Jordan Spieth’s title defense at the U.S. Open will begin at 8:35 a.m. Eastern on Thursday.
He’ll play the first two rounds at Oakmont alongside Zach Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau in the traditional grouping of the winners of the U.S. Open, Open Championship and U.S. Amateur. They’ll tee it up at 2:20 p.m. Friday off of the first tee.
FedExCup leader Jason Day will play with a familiar face as he tries to win his first U.S. Open. Day will play the first two rounds with countryman Adam Scott in the first two rounds at Oakmont Country Club. Their Presidents Cup teammate, Louis Oosthuizen, will round out the threesome. They are scheduled to tee off from No. 1 at 2:20 p.m. Thursday. They have an 8:35 a.m. tee time off No. 10 on Friday.
Day and Scott are the top two players in the FedExCup; Day, whose three wins this season include THE PLAYERS Championship, also is No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking. He finished second in the 2011 and 2013 U.S. Opens.
Day has never played a U.S. Open at Oakmont. His agent, Bud Martin, is a member there, though.
DeChambeau, the winner of the 2015 U.S. Amateur and NCAA Championship, forfeit his U.S. Open exemption when he turned professional, but earned his way back into the field via sectional qualifying.
Spieth and DeChambeau also played in the first two rounds of this year’s Masters. Spieth led after shooting 66-74, while DeChambeau shot 72-72 to sit in eighth place. Spieth finished second at the Masters, while DeChambeau was the low amateur.
Phil Mickelson’s quest to complete the career Grand Slam is scheduled to begin at 2:09 p.m. Thursday off the 10th tee. He’ll play alongside Justin Rose, the 2013 U.S. Open champion, and Henrik Stenson in the first two rounds. Their second-round tee time is 8:24 a.m.

Matt Kuchar (18), Bubba Watson, (15), Patrick Reed (6): All three players attended college in Georgia, with Kuchar going to Georgia Tech, Watson attending the University of Georgia and Patrick Reed winning two NCAA Championships at Augusta State. Watson finished fifth at the 2007 U.S. Open at Oakmont, his best finish in this tournament. Tee times: 7:51 a.m. off 1st tee on Thursday; 1:36 p.m. off 10th tee on Friday.
Matthew Fitzpatrick (N/A), Danny Lee (51) and Byeong-Hun An (N/A). Three former U.S. Amateur champions – Danny Lee (2008), Byeong-Hun An (2009) and Matthew Fitzpatrick (2013) – also are scheduled to play together. Lee broke Tiger Woods’ record as the youngest U.S. Amateur champion until An surpassed him the following year. All three now rank in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Tee times: 8:13 a.m. off 1st tee on Thursday; 1:58 p.m. off 10th tee on Friday.
Rory McIlroy (30), Danny Willett (47), Rickie Fowler (21). All three players participated in the 2007 Walker Cup, where Fowler’s United States team beat Great Britain & Ireland. McIlroy, the 2011 U.S. Open champion, recently won the Irish Open. Fowler, the 2014 U.S. Open runner-up, is a three-time PGA TOUR winner. McIlroy ranks 30th in the FedExCup, while Fowler is No. 21. Tee times: 8:24 a.m. off 1st tee on Thursday; 2:09 p.m. off 10th tee on Friday.
Hideki Matsuyama (11), Sergio Garcia (14), Dustin Johnson (13). This group features three players who are all seeking their first major. Matsuyama and Garcia have both won PGA TOUR events in 2016. Tee times: 1:36 p.m. off 1st tee on Thursday; 7:51 a.m. off 10th tee on Friday.
Webb Simpson (92), Graeme McDowell (19), Geoff Ogilvy (186). Three former U.S. Open champions are grouped together here. Simpson won in 2012, while McDowell won two years earlier. Ogilvy won the 2006 U.S. Open at Winged Foot; this is the last year of his 10-year winner’s exemption into the U.S. Open. Tee times: 1:47 p.m. off 1st tee on Thursday; 8:02 a.m. off 10th tee on Friday.
Ernie Els (173), Jim Furyk (199), Angel Cabrera (176). Els won the 1994 U.S. Open at Oakmont, while Cabrera won there in 2007. Furyk was runner-up to Cabrera, finishing one shot back after a bogey at the 71st hole. Tee times: 1:58 p.m. off 1st tee on Thursday; 8:13 a.m. off 10th tee on Friday.
