Jordan and his family were on hand this past weekend at the annual fundraising gala for Rays of Light in Dallas, Texas to celebrate another great year for the non-profit organization, and to honor their work with a contribution from the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation.
The evening was a great success, with Chris and Shawn Spieth serving as honorary chairs and Jordan and Ellie dancing the night away.
Says Executive Director Robin Wilson, "Ellie has been a participant in the program since 2008, and Jordan and Steven have both served as volunteers with the organization. Rays of Light is the largest free respite care provider serving families with children with intellectual disabilities and their siblings in the Dallas area.
"Together with our dedicated, compassionate volunteers, Rays of Light creates a unique evening for the children on three Fridays of every month, and in September 2014, Night Lights will expand to add a fourth night of respite care. Night Lights gives parents the opportunity to have four free hours and the children get four hours of socialization and interaction with their volunteers and peers, through structured, fun and educational activities. We are thankful for the continued support to allow us to grow."
The funds generated this past weekend will be used toward providing activities each Friday night, such as live entertainment, arts & crafts, a movie theater, game room, computer room, gym, and therapy dogs.
